Tool & Die Build
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESDie build from start to completion from die design model.
Familiar with all tool room equipment, machinery and procedures.
Knowledge of types of raw materials and their respective applications, such as heat treating and appropriate coatings.
Ability to perform or lead all aspects of the new build process.
SPECIFIC DUTIES Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make, or modify existing tooling, tools for new or old job prints.
Make sure tools are sharpened and tool holders in good working condition before being placed back on shelf or in tool drawers.
Repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling or hardware as needed to maintain adequate stock.
Check tooling in and out of tool room computer via the ERP system.
Set up and operate all tool room machines for specific form tool, tap, drills, or holder for grinding.
Make up set up carts, for any machine upon request providing print is given out in sufficient time to prepare said carts.
Use tools that are safe and in good repair.
Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards i.
e.
, proper use of personal protective equipment.
Participate in department/shift/team meetings Coordinate and perform new tool build.
Insure quality of workmanship expected.
Assist in insuring a safe, clean working environment.
Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the Tool Room.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Works in the most efficient manner to meet and exceed all established corporate goals.
Assists in analyzing and resolving work problems.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Consistently adhere to, and support, policies and procedures, including ISO, and safety regulations; assist in investigating and documenting potential infractions.
Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
Give and accept instructions and duties in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
Assist in maintaining MTD values (Family, Inventive Spirit, Appreciation, Give Back, Communication) daily, through thoughts and actions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONEquivalent to a high school education with some formal training in a specific field.
EXPERIENCEMinimum eight (8) years tool room experience in progressive die building and/or hold a Journeyman Card.
Must be highly skilled in die making and must have through knowledge of all tool build processes.
ERRORSErrors in judgment could result in loss of production, increased scrap, reduced Customer confidence, late build would cause Customer production to be late.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIESMust have the ability to make decisions based on precedent and established procedure.
Take action to improve methods, efficiencies, and utilization and implement existing procedures.
CONTACT WITH OTHERSMust be able to interface with hourly Tool Makers and Supervisory as well as Management Associates.
MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMANDMental and visual demands are not of a burdening nature normally; however, there may be heavy concentration required when planning die build processes.
